Settled on a CT 36 as D/E.  Now I am trying to decide between 6" and 5" versions of either the RO150/125 or ETS150/125/3

Any downsides to going with the 5" other than it will take slightly longer to sand?

My choice would be to go with the 6". 40%+ more surface area. That means more coverage, faster to completion, and less cost per sanding pad.

Just my opinion though.

Quicker to finish with a 6".  Maybe a bit heavier, harder to hold, all relative to the user though.  And the obvious downsides of big vs small (hard to fit in tight spaces, etc).

The ETS 125 has the smallest stroke of any Festool sander with a 2mm stroke. It is the perfect finish sander and the lightest one if this is important to you.

Bit the bullet.  CT 36 and RO150 plus hard pad.  Will grab SP from another source.  Also landed a RSE2 on eBay for $250.  Tool is relatively new looking.  Hope that's a good deal.  Now licking my chops hoping for  a delivery on Friday.

Nothing like the smell of new Festools in the morning.  Or anytime!  Enjoy!

My new CT36 and ETS125 just showed up in the big brown truck!  [thumbs up]

Ordering a CXS drill tonight as well. [tongue]

Congrats on the new sander and vac. I would have recommended a slightly different route. I am quickly finding out that the ETS 150/3 and DTS-400 are a very good combination and what I would have recommended. The ETS 150 and DTS-400 are about the same price together as the RO150. Enjoy your new toys [big grin]
