I hope I'm posting this in the right section of FOG.

Yesterday I received my order of 4 Qwas Dogs and two guide rail dogs. The guide rail fit theMTF holes but the Qwas are so tight I can't push them into the holes.

MFT is the older MFT 1080 bought about 12 years ago. Now what?

I'm not sure of the exact size but the 1080 has smaller holes!!!! A guy a couple of towns over has one for sale In great shape and for a great price and I really want it but....different heights and my dogs won't work in it :(

What's got me scratching my head is the rail dogs fit and the Qwas Don't. I would have thought they would be manufactured to the same diameter.

I have the older MFT 1080 and my Qwas dogs fit perfectly.  No problem.  High humidity causing the holes to swell maybe?  ???

That is quite odd.

Do you have calipers or some other means to measure the difference?

I'm thinking that might be the case in the one I wanted to buy.

Yes I have calipers. Unfortunately I'm home today and my dog and calipers are at work. I did measure them yesterday and the rail dogs measured 18.something mm and the Qwas dogs measured 19.something MM. Can't remember exactly what the .something were.

Richard,

I had it explained to by Qwas  that the rail dogs are not supposed to fit the hole tight so likely are slightly smaller diameter than the current batch of Qwas dogs. Contact Qwas and will make the Qwas dogs what ever diameter you want. I have a custom MFT top and had the guy cnc the holes to 20mm like the newer MFTs. The older 1080s did have slightly smaller holes.

Qwas is very customer centric so I am sure he will make it right.

I bought a new top today and now the dogs fit as they should. Now I have to fix the rail dog as the don't tighten on the track.

Sure wished I knew all this stuff before I placed my order. I'm now 230 dollars into squaring my fence and rail.

If you're having an issue with the rail dogs not tightening all the way and pinching the rail, give Steve a call. I had the same problem and he said there was an issue with some of them on manufacturing and they sent me a set of shorter bolts that solved the problem.
