I've had a few problems with my splinter guards, domino cutters and power receptacles with the dust collectors. After reading all the posts here i approached my dealer on the domino and my new rail (Bob Marino) and he agreed to replace both with no problem. I'm very pleased and impressed with following the suggestion at the top of the board regarding contacting Festool / or your dealer first. It does allow them to resolve the problem before publicly complaining about it.
I do however think it worthwhile to discuss and disclose such problems and issues so we know we are not alone in having them and in either having immediate success resolving them or not.
I've never had a cutting bit shatter. This was the first time i used the new tool (i had been previously trained by a festool rep with it).
While i think it very rare, i was so relieved to find that was the problem. I was reading elsewhere about vibration with the domino and wondered if i had a bad one, checked the cutter, saw it was imperfect, changed it and it works wonderfully. So relieved.
As to the issue of the power receptacle on the dust collector: Seems like a design and or manufacture flaw. When i use three prong plugs, they stay in very well. When i use the Festool two prong plugs, they tend to slip out. I know the trick is to gently squeeze them together, but this issue is not the plug, it is the recpetacle.
I went direct to Festool and they are sending me an new one, for my Midi, the one on my CT 22 has beeb changed twoce.
very easy to replace with a torx screwdriver and a couple of minutes. Better than shipping the tool out and not having it!
Hopefully the new receptacles will hold the plugs better. I have not had any problem with the new receptacles since i got the CT 22 back (in record time).
I use these vacuums primarily for floor refinishing and must say I'm very impressed with them. I'm going to upgrade to a bigger hose for vacuuming the floor as it will work better. and glue some felt to the back wheels. I have found that the cord as it's gotten "broken in" is marking the floor less, so I'm not replacing it yet. . . I'm happy to not have to do so.

Festools are not perfect (nothing is) but the service I've received has been excellent.
With a little patience and kindness you can get excellent service and support. (kinda like life)
The replacement parts are sometimes and improvement and resolve problems.
Sometime initial problems are not as bad as they seem at first.
