Hello all,

I have a Ras 115, had it for 10 years or so, and just recently it has begun to slow down then speed up again. I called festool service and they suggested sending it in which I can do. However, thought I would take a shot here and see if anyone has run into the same issue and if there is something I can do before sending it in.  With the reduction in price I am contemplating just buying a new one as well. This sander has helped on so many projects it is one for me to always have.

Call hartville hardware, i picked one up brand new for $150.  It might be on their website, if you cant find it just call.  They had dozens and dozens of them for sale.

I saw the $200 and may still consider it.  I decided to open up the machine, the last job I did was not the usual woodworking it is usually used for. The insides were very dusty despite using dust collection. I used compressed air and cleaned it out. So, far it has been running great. Hopefully, tomorrow I can really run it through its paces. I appreciate the referral on the price at Hartville. Thanks

Different dusts and debris can be tool killers for sure. I have no experience with buildup in the RAS since mine is brand new as of a couple months ago knowing it was a steal of a deal for the discontinued- but I had a great Makita impact driver that stopped working one day and after taking it in to a repair shop to see about fixing it- if it was worth the cost over a new one, it turns out that it just had a large buildup inside of sawdust and clearing it out got it working as good as the day I got it, 5-8 years prior. As a result I am very cognizant about blowing dust and debris from my power tools after they go through heavy duty or dirty types of work (like grinders with concrete/stucco work). Good luck with your RAS!

Toolnut.com and Festoolproducts.com (same company) also have them on sale. I believe their price is currently $215. [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] ?
