Rattle-y sound with TS55 - is this normal?

I'm a relatively new TS55 user.  I've been ripping some 8/4 maple with a 2700/2 guide at speed 6.  Most of the time the TS55 sounds like it's cutting smoothly with a consistent whine, but occasionally (every 45-60secs or so) I hear a tinny,gear-y rattle.  A bit like the sound of the saw starting up.  Cut quality remains pretty good.

Is this typical gear lash or is my saw horked?  Any thoughts?

Thanks!

is the saw bogging down before the sound  , if so the saw could just be coming back up to speed

My TS55 often sounds that way, a bit like it's about to disintegrate. It's normal and something to do with the constant speed electronics or something like that. It's been covered on here before and is nothing to worry about. Someone will come along soon and provide a link..................

Does it shake a bit before ?  Does it afterwards roll a bit?  If so then it's ok it just has the what Jerry lee Lewis had you know....

The sound is normal. If you do a search on the forum, you'll find several threads on the topic.
