Justinmcf:  Aha!  Where do I find this rubber adapter?  Do you have a part number?  It seems that this part should be found under the CT 22 and CT 33 section of the catalog.

The most likely possibilities that I see are: under the catagory of "Hose sleeves - Reducing sleeves",  the 487 071 is described " With rotating adapter for D27 suction hose  Replacement, tool end of extraction hose for our standard 27mm hose."  The 487 721 is described "Antistatic version with rotating adapter for D36 suction hose  Replacement, tool end of extraction hose for our mid-sized 36mm hose."  I would have much more confidence in those parts being what I want if anywhere in their description they mentioned "rubber" - in the photos, they look like they could easily be plastic.

That is due to the fact that they are AS parts so both the flexable rubber nozzle and rigid plastic hose connector parts look the same. They are plastic and rubber

hi again, i checked the aussie festool website. the "adaptor" you need is listed as a "tool end connector" and the order no is 487071.

it is listed as a 27mm connector, but you can fit the 36mm hose over the connector.

it is basically made of 2 components, 1 is made from rubber which fits to the tool and the other component is plastic and this is what the 36mm hose snugly slides over.

these 2 components clip together and they also rotate. i have 4 of these connectors, they are connected to my sanders and my leigh jigs.

they cost AU$35 each.

You can also make an adapter to go from a complete 36mm hose with tool end fitting to a 27mm hose.  Cut a short length, e.g. 1ft from the standard 27mm hose supplied with Festool's CT vacuum machines and fit both ends of that short hose length with Item 487071 pictured above.  The "tool end connector for a 27mm hose will fit snugly into the tool end connector of Festool's 36mm hose.  Here's a photo of mine in use.
