Really Big Elipse

Here is one. I got a call from a referral. "Do you do work in large expensive houses?". "Sure I have knocked out a few. "  was my reply.  The guy asks me to come out and take a look at finishing up some loose ends. Sure. All the work left he wants me to do is radius and eliptical work. I have done this in the past but have had the pediments usually manufactured by a millshop. Not enough lead time for this one. I have 10 sheets of 61"x97"x 1" thick mdf( 175lbs a sheet). Here is a few shots of the project. I hope if anyone has to do large pieces like this. I hope these shots save you some time. This elipse is 120" on the major axis and 28" on the minor. If anyone is interested in the math behind it I can post some drawing for clarification.

Nice work Anthony, how about some more info/pics on the jig. And what the heck, post the drawings.

Nice project...

It looks like Dan Clark has not stopped in yet (is he too busy eating turkey to notice?) so I'll say it -- show us some more photos!

Making ellipses has always stumped me, so it would be great if you could post more information on how you accomplished this.

Thanks for posting.

Anthony,

VERY nice work indeed!  That's a heck of a "loose end"!  And many thanks for posting the descriptive document!

Regards,

Dan.
