Received first order...is this normal?

I just received my first festool order!
Very, very excited to say the least!

I have a couple questions,

1- I hooked up my ug extensions to the kapex and set them parallel to kapex using the extension extrusion. Worked great. On the left side everything is great but on the right side where the extension meets the saw it is a little high. If i slide a piece of molding from  the kapex across to the extension it gets hung up there. Is there an adjustment for this?

2- Is it normal for the systainers to be shipped as is with no cardboard box to protect them from getting banged up, getting dirty, someone opening it and taking something out? I attached a few pics of the systainer condition i received them in. Seems weird to pay a premium for the best tools out there and there isnt even a box. I know its just caked on dirt and with some degreaser they can all be cleaned....just seems odd. Am i being picky? I did just drop 6500$ on festool products....
There are things missing in slots in the cases but i dont even know if it is just add ons that go there or not.

WHAT..?  ???
Were these sent by a courier, or UPS/Fedex/Canada Post? In any case, there should be a cardboard box at the very least. Not only to protect the Systainers, but also to protect you and the seller from exactly what you mentioned, theft. Wow, thats what I call careless. I would inquire with your dealer if thats their normal SOP, and if it is... get a new dealer for your next purchases.

Ref the open slots in the Systainers, most tools do come that way, and you can purchase extra parts, guides etc and stick them in those open slots.

Yes these were sent from the dealer by courrier....
The guy opened his truck and the systainers were stacked on each other on the pallet with the other stuff.
Is there somewhere to find exactly what comes with each tool? Doesnt seem to  be in the manuals. I really want to verify i have everything.

You should receive everything in pristine order. No self-respecting dealer would simply use the systainer as the outer box to ship it.

I have never had anything delivered by courier, so is that the dealers truck more or less..? I guess i could see where they pulled it from stock, stuck it in the truck, and drove it to you... but still it seems careless to me - especially for the premium prices paid and lack of security for the products in those Systainers..

I checked the Festool website, if you click a tool, scroll down to "specifications", there should be a list of what you get when you buy that tool. Or, just post here what you bought and what parts you received, there are a number of helpful dealers and users that can verify what is supposed to come with each tool.

Ref your question #1, make sure that the extension clamp is secured properly, you might take it off and do it again just to check. I am sure others will have more solutions to this issue... I cant get to my Kapex set up right now to offer any better ideas!

In Europe there are apparently some courier networks whom are trustworthy enough that dealers are able to do just that, ship the systainer as is.

Thanks guys. The courier was not the dealer. It was shipped by a third party courier from ontario to quebec to a warehouse here. And then from that warehouse to me from what i understand.  Im pretty disappointed that i need to spend time cleaning systainers and verifying parts especially since i have a complete shop of tools en route for my house in the next 3 weeks....

I agree, but hopefully this is just a small bump in the road for your journey with your new tools!

(I would still find a new dealer for the next purchase...)

Once you get the rest of your tools set up, be sure to post some shop photos!

Thanks for the encouragement!  I dont want to dwell on this as at the end of the day IF everything is there, it doesnt really matter. Its just kinda weird.
I will for sure post some pics! Very exciting to be waiting for all these machines!!!!![emoji1]

Getting this beast mounted is my first job this weekend...

Any Festool I have bought and shipped to me whether by courier or not was shipped in a box and wrapped. Granted the courier shipped may not have been protected as much as the items shipped in the mail but they were protected. I'd give the deal a call and express my disdain for his shipping policy

No way that is normal unless you requested it.  I would not be happy.  does it matter, prob not.  Should they have been boxed.  YES

So i just spoke to them and they said that all the festool products come from the u.s without cardboard boxes. They are stacked in their warehouse without boxes. If they ship out one systainer they will put it in a box. Because i ordered so much it fit on a pallet so they just stacked the systainers and wrapped them with the rest of the order.

I get pallets from Festool all the time. They have always used a big double-layer cardboard box on the pallet filled with the stuff. It is then taped, wrapped (to a degree), and strapped. They don't just put systainers on a pallet and ship them, at least not to me. That's asking for problems, one of which is filth. Shipping is dirty business.

Weird...I wonder if it has to do with me being in Canada? Do any Canadians on this forum have any experience with this?

I placed or should I say my wife placed a rather large order last year and everything was boxed and clean.

Whenever I have ordered from Bob Marino or Tom Bellemare, the question is, will all the wrappings fit in the recycle bin? It is not normal to ship this way. You need a dealer who more concerned about the whole customer experience, not just putting cash into the register. When your wallet recovers you will probably buy more, find a dealer who cares to have you as a life long customer.

i would not be happy if I received any tool (expensive or otherwise) like that. I would expect it to be in a box protecting  all the contents.
I would check all the systainers and demand a new one for any damaged ones.

Yes, I think/believe it was discussed on the forum somewhere. I will look for it and post unless someone else does first.

Call Atlas, and ask for Shawn (Ederman) and tell him what and how you received your tools.
The last couple orders with a bunch of parts, and a couple systainers that I received was all nicely packaged in cardboard boxes.

As i read your post i was on the phone with Shawn. Great guy who really wants to please his customers. He confirmed that when there is enough stuff to fit on a pallet, they put systainers directly and wrap it amongst the other boxes on the pallet for protection. Apparently in Germany they are shipped boxless as well.

As for the right extension being to high does anyone have any advice? Here are a couple pics with the difference between the right and left side.
