Received New Domino XL

Hey Ajax,

I have a new XL with the 750mm x 12 mm Sipo cut-your-own tenons.  I have more than I will use in 10 years, and would be happy to send you a bunch of the sticks for free.  I have a mailing tube in the shop and can send them to you by USPS in the morning.  If you want them, let me know how many 750 mm sticks you will need, and your snail mail address.

I bought the XL to make a couple of storm doors, and got the Sipo to resist rot. They should be just right for your bench.  You'll love the XL.

I also got the Systainer with the smaller Dominoes--lots of 'em--and can send you a few handfuls if you let me know what sizes you'd like to try.  I don't have any 14 mm stuff.

I'm not AJAX, but what a very kind and generous gesture. Class act.

Also, I'm back ordered on both the XL sets and non-sets. It is not a happy situation...

Tom

Same here, some are coming in this week, others are on backorder from Germany.

We do have'em...

Feel free to PM or email me.  We can expedite one to ya.

Keep the tool and use it for less than 30 days, and then ship it back to them!

This ^^^

If you have a project you need to do, do it! Then ship this back and ask them to replace it with one that is not damaged. They owe it to you to make it right.

If they balk, I'm pretty sure a call would be forthcoming from Festool that would change their mind rather quickly!

[wink]

You could call Festool - they'd probably be happy to send you out a replacement top at no charge.  They're awesome like that.  Sounds like CPO can't be bothered anyway.  You shouldn't have to clean everything off and repair it when you drop that much cash on a tool.

UPDATE:

1) I went to a local Woodcraft and picked up a box of uncut 12mm Domino stock.  I opted for Beech and not the Sipo tenons.  I also bought some epoxy so the total price of the Beech tenons + epoxy is what I would have paid for 12mm uncut Sipo tenons.  I figure the epoxy can be used on other projects whereas the Sipo tenons are very specific.  I think the combination will work just as well on the garden bench I'm trying to finish.

2) I called CPO and talked to a different customer service agent.  He was a lot more helpful and concerned about the damaged product.  He asked for pictures of the damaged Systainer and offered to send out a replacement assortment once they got the pictures.  I sent the pictures this evening and an e-mail asking to return the damaged 12mm/14mm assortment.  I said that time was short and that I bought uncut tenons locally to make my project deadline.

I think this outcome will work best for me since the Domino XL comes with the 12mm cutter and I'm not sure how much more useful having the 14mm cutter is (the 12mm and 14mm cutters both seem to fill the requirements).  If I had to do it over again, I think I would have either bought the 8mm/10mm assortment or the 12mm uncut stock during the Domino sale.

Just thinking about it some more, the smaller Dominos seems to be more useful in a pre-cut assortment (I have the DF500 4/5/6/8 assortment and love it) whereas the larger Dominos seem better suited in uncut form (or make your own).

KUDOS to Crox G for the offer to send some Sipo tenons.
