Hi, I'm Patrick, I live in Boston, I do amateur woodworking for furniture and stuff around the house. But mostly furniture.

Technically I already have owned a festool item for 3 years (a sawstop contractor saw), then more recently a shaper origin, but I hadn't bought anything from the company yet.

I got to use a friend's domino and I was impressed by the build quality. Also I had enough

In March/Apr this year, I took the plunge and bought:
- TS55 Track saw, battery powered
- EC125 5 inch random orbit sander
- CT 26E dust extractor
- Kapex KS120 miter saw

I really like them so far. The track saw is very specialized, but when it comes down to breaking down plywood/other sheet goods, it's just so good at it. Also since it's battery powered, I can take it with me when I buy some and if for whatever reason there's wait or no tool/nobody to cut it for me when I'm there, I can just cut it myself on the spot. Amazing.

The random orbit sander is just more pleasant and more effective than anything I've tried before

The CT26E doesn't slurp much more (or not noticeably) than my $400 dewalt hepa extractor, but it's way more silent and more pleasant to use!

The Kapex is like a normal miter saw except better adjusted (square) or adjustable, and that throws so much less dust in the air it's not even comparable. Not perfect by any means but close. I'd really like the depth limiter to be able to limit a bit higher than 1 inch and to get a zero clearance plate from the factory but apart from that I really like it. It's very precise.

The shaper origin is great for what it is too, so is the sawstop table saw, it's not just safer, it's just a very good all around saw with good materials, operation, adjustability, etc.

My next buys are probably a domino 500, a 6" rotex sander (is it called rotex 150?), maybe a jigsaw, a 1400 router, and ... I don't know

Hey Patrick,

Sounds like in the brief time using the tools you've come to similar conclusions as many here. The Rotex RO 150 is indeed the 6" version of the Rotex sanders.

Enjoy using your new tools,
Chip

Hi Patrick,

Welcome to the FOG. Looks like you're off to a good start. If you're in the market for a jigsaw maybe have a look at the Mafell.

Please feel free to share photos of your furniture.

Hi Patrick,

Greetings from the Roslindale section of Boston. I do much the same as you.

Thank you so much! I've even added a few things last week, namely the OF1400 router, the Domino 500, and a cyclone for my CT26E, CT VA something. Oh and some rail guide/square/spacers from TSO for the FS rails ... This is getting out of hand, I'm stopping the spend for a bit, and will concentrate on builds, I got a ton of new tools to use now  [blink] [blink]

Also going to build my own MFT style top for a new workbench - at least with MFT style spacing/holes. I'm still hesitating between 20mm and 3/4inch. I already do own a 3/4 spiral bit, some 3/4 dogs, and a few other 3/4 accessories, so I might start with that, and increase their size if something in 20mm is needed, since after all 3/4 smaller (19mm), whereas I couldn't go the other way

Will be posting a few furniture builds too, I got some upcoming nice stuff, I have a cherry slab for a desk, and will be making some cabinets for various rooms in the house soon.
