I  need a device that will allow me to run my Kapex miter saw and a vacuum  I hooked up to it for dust removal.  I am currently switching one device on then the other.

Can any body recommend a dice that will do what I want.  I have both devices currently working off of a 15 amp circuit.  Thank you

You may not be able to do what you want on a single 15A circuit without getting a new vacuum.  The Kapex will use a high start up current and then a variable amount based on speed and load.  I haven't measured the draw under various conditions, but that's one issue.  The vacuum you're using probably has a fixed speed, so measure that current and see where you're at.  If you think your usage will exceed 15A, I've heard some apply a router speed controller to a vacuum to dial it down.  It will take a bit of fussing to see how much you'll need to dial it down for your usage, but it can be done.

Now, if you want the Kapex to trigger the vacuum on as well (not sure that's what you asked for), Tim's suggestion will help you with that.

Or just get a Festool vac which tends to play fine with a Kapex on a single 15A circuit and get rid of the extra bits suggested above.

I have a 6.5 Ridgid shopvac as my main dust collector for the mitre saw, and when I've used both on a 15amp circuit the Kapex will not get up to full speed, so I run one of the machines on a different circuit.

The options are:

1) Larger circuit
2) two circuits:
  A) manual on off
  B) powered on off

2A means going old school and manually turning on the vacuum and manually turn it off.
A vacuum can also be left on for extended periods.

Whether 2B is cheaper than redoing the circuit requires and electrician and where the wires. Are sealed in the wall or exposed.

how have i used my kapex and my ct26 on a 15 amp circuit for most of its life? and no i have not had the dreaded kapex motor failure. they both combined will not draw more then 15 amps?

Fuses are sometimes in a 'slo-blow' variety so that high inrush at startup can be tolerated for a short time.

If there are circuit breakers that do the same 'slow-blow', then that could be a possible reason.

I have run my Kapex (trouble free) for years through my Festool Midi on a standard 15 amp circuit. Never have tripped the breaker. My breakers are standard, not slow trip.
