Please recommend an affordable hinge boring jig for 32mm hinges. It seems like they are either crazy expensive or junk. Is there anything in between that works good?

Sommerfields also makes a drilling jig for the hinges, it is setup for the 35mm hole and the two screw holes.

The reason I prefer the CMT over the Summerfield is there is only one input drive to bore all 3 holes. With the Summerfield you have to hit all 3 spindles.

The Blum jig works great. I like having the option to not drill the smaller holes but I usually get the press-in hinges and use the holes.

The Sommerfeld jig looks like a knock-off of the Blum at about half the cost.

On the CMT, you pop the side bits out. The side bits can be the 8 mm for the press in or 2.5 mm for the screw in.

I have the Ecodrill but the CMT version is on my wish list. It looks like it would be a lot faster, not only because of drilling all the holes at once but also being able to use flip stops on the drill press.

I used the Rockler routing template last week for eight cabinet doors, and it worked very well. It's a clever design. You fasten the template to the door with two screws, which leave pilot holes where the hinge's screws will go.  Dust collection was pretty good with a half-inch straight bit, and would have been better with an up-cut bit. You can't beat the price.

Longing for an LR 32 someday,

I've used this for years and it does exactly what I need.  I've drilled hundreds of holes and have yet found a need to replace the bit.  It's small and versatile but it does make a mess - I just have my vac hose handy and clean up quickly after each hole.  FWIW, I have the LR32 but can't imagine it being faster or doing a better job than this.

Thank you all. I am sorry for the late response but internet only works sporadically. Two of the questions were what is affordable and what do I want to do with it. I do about 2 cabinet jobs a year and I don't know what affordable is because I always spend more money on tools than I plan on. I had looked at the Blum minipress and remember that it was very expensive. I will look at all of the ones suggested.
