Recommendations for this Sys

My recollection here is that the tote linked to is too fitted to euro tools and accessories and that to maximize storage and usage for your situation it might be a better choice to design your own insert for a SYStainer size of your own choosing.

If you do a google search for " FESTOOL tool tote systainer" you will find a lot of images for inspiration.

I personally would not order one and then try to make it work.  If a dealer had one on display (which II understand is not your case) I would pack up the tools I wanted it to hold and take them to the store and test the fit before purchasing.

Hi!

It's one of the few Festool/Systainer items I wouldn't buy. I pondered about it for quite some time but came to the conclusion it wouldn't work with my selection of hand-tools that I like to keep in one place and use regularly. For me it's way to "specialized"/ "standardized" on very common, standard hand tools.

Like Peter already suggested, I would take a close look at all available pictures of this insert being stocked and used and then decide if it works for you and your tools.

I stick to my Snap-On tote, to accompany my Festool/Systainers :) It's the perfect solution for me.

It's too heavily geared towards things like screwdrivers and chisels for my tastes.

I agree , make you own if you like this style.

Hi six-point

Is the Sys on the bottom of your dolly a four way power  source?  If so, where did you get it?  That I want more than an organizer for hand tools.

I had one of the Sys-HWZ units and ended up selling it. Not very space efficient and too many compromises to find / use my existing tools in it.  I ended up going with the Sys Storage box -

Been very happy with it as a better way for me to store my tools.

Thanks Neil.

I like that box as well, but I wish that it were available in a deeper model. I will attempt to find a brick and mortar store with one in stock. I think I'm going to end up with a Sys 5 and homemade inserts.

I might be wrong but I'm under the impression that insert is for the German cabinetmaker apprenticeship* toolkit.

So its the basics for the course.

To me there seems a hell of a lot of screwdrivers held in special holes which don't really mind clattering against each other and could be packed top to tail like sardines in a can.
Chisels can stand touching each other if they have the end covers on and that takes up a lot less space also.

I keep looking at these fancy boxes with a special place for every tool but in the real world I suspect all the wasted space would get on my nerves.
Bit like the foam filled assassin style cases that have about three tools in them and a couple of inches between them.
I'd need a bigger workvan to carry all the boxes about.

*My terminology may be off on that one.
