Ok, I haven't been posting too much in the last month, been pretty busy with the Recon tool program  - maybe too busy ;)... uhm, thanks Michael... :-X. Thankfully most customers got their tool/tools of choice; even if the wait was long. A big thanks to my customers for their support and patience, to Shane...for being Shane and especially to the ladies in the office - Debbie, Julie and Gayle for the patience, hard work and waaaaaaaaaaay long hours keeping the gigs going.

I am going forward with the Systainer abrasive assortment for the RO 90 DX - leaning to  where Festool was on this a few moths back 80 -320 for each sander, Rubin to 180 and  then Brilliant 220 and 320. 30-35 sheets for the RO Papers and10-15 sheets for the DX papers. Figure about $125.00 or so. I suppose a bit more if we get fancy.

The reason it  is not yet offered is very simple - the abrasives ain't here yet; hopefully they will at week's end or mid next week.

I will be finally getting the QWAS products  up on my web-site later this week/early next week. It's been a while, but they are  worth the  wait.

Ok, it's late and I'm tired; time for dreamland. See ya  later AM.

Good night.

Bob, I expect you'll have a few more busy days before you can get some well deserved rest.

I can't imagine you're going to move very many of these assortments without Granat thrown into the mix.

Probably correct, Brice; that's another reason to think this through as I await supplies. With the introduction of both Cristal and Granat abrasives and the fact that there are now 2 sizes for the abrasives (RO  and DX), the assortment possibilities and permutations are quite huge.

Definitely would be interested in an abrasives assortment, but I have to admit I would also need to sit down and think about what I'd really want in there.

Maybe the fact that there are so many permutations just highlights the fact that it may be helpful to have an assortment that covers a wide gamut of the shapes, families and grits so people can try them with less risk that they'd be buying a 50 sheet pack of something they find out they don't like?

It would be the least expensive way to 'tour the universe' of abrasives. Sometimes you just have a small job for which you just need a few sheets of some oddball material that you normally would not have had in your shop - and assortments can be nice for that.

BTW - Do we know which abrasives are included with the RO90 yet?

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that a 'few of everything' assortment would be most appealing. The unit prices of the abrasives are going to be the same, right? No discount? Especially if that is the case, there is little incentive for you to do any other kind. I think you may be getting a lot of first-time Festool sander buyers with the RO90. (I am.) I want to experiment with small quantities of a few things before I commit to larger purchases of abrasives I then know I like and work well for my uses.

It cost-effectively supports a good woodworking habit that many people here already do - experiment/test with things like finishing schedules before moving ahead with the full project.

People who know what they want can buy those shapes and sizes of abrasives on their own, for the same price and not have spent any money on things they don't care for. The only downside of them may be the package quantities, which may total up to more than they want to spend.

i think you should do a couple a options. bare wood , paint etc. 5 of each sheet type and grit for each option . if you had a standard charge for the systainer and a equal charge for each option. i presume bob (or lackey) will make these up to order so someone could chose 1 , 2,or 3 options in the systainer or just one.

Bob,

Are you still planning in putting the 36mm to 27mm hose adaptor thing on your website??

I think the Granat will be included, maybe smaller quantities  ~ 5 sheets per grit- maybe even skip a grit or two, but I also think the Rubin and Brilliant are  the "backbone" of the abrasives for what most woodworkers normally encounter - sanding bare and painted wood.
Included with the set are  - DX 40 -220 Saphir and Granat; and for the RO - Vlies -100 and 800 and Granat 40-220.

Something to consider, thanks.  BTW, it' just me, I'm the lackey.

On the to-do list. If you want one in the meantime, if you need one, I can  make one up.

Bob, if you have the Rubin and Brilliant in the case, i will more then likely get one from you.  Any rough idea on when you might have them available?

Joe,

Do you mean a systainer full? Anyhoooo, later this week early next week.
What I have  decided is to ship the  empty RO 90 abrasive systainer from my warehouse and the assortments from here in NJ.

Bob, I am talking about the assortments.  I really liked the "Rubin to 180 and  then Brilliant 220 and 320. 30-35 sheets for the RO Papers and10-15 sheets for the DX papers" you mentioned earlier.
