Reconditioned Tools Question...

That's awesome!  Congrats on your tools.  You made some awesome choices...the Trion is my most recent acquisition and I love it!  I am also happy for everyone who is able to take advantage of the deal.

Quick question. I'm a furniture maker (mostly custom tables), business growing nicely, and now I'm finally at a point i can even consider these financially.

Would any of you buy a recon vacuum, and if so would you buy the ct33, as your one and only?

just thinking that the 33 has to be 2-3 years old at best at this point. Price is right and I would love the extra $ to buy other items, but don't have anything to compare it to.

bottom line, do i get a recon 33, recon 36, or just go brand new..

I think you'll be quite happy with a CT-33 if you are primarily using it in your workshop rather than on job sites.  Festool commits to provide parts for 7 years and that vacuum has plenty of use in it - add a boom arm or other accessories in time.

Festool vacs are terrific with their sanders and even the Domino.

At 30% off, it's a great deal and one I think you will get a lot of value out of.

What's the difference between the ES-125 and the ETS-125, and the ES-125EQ?

I can't seem to find any infor on the ES.

The ES and ETS are both EQ models for the reconditioned tool program.

The changes made to the new palm sanders, ETS125, RTS400, DTS400 are mainly internal; you likely won't notice any difference in how they look. The counterweight was reshaped and the cooling fan housing was changed to be made of metal.

There are several threads here on the forum if you search for "es ets 125" where members with experience using both models have reported no noticeable differences.

Steve, you asked for the differences between the ETS and ES. The ETS has a reshaped counterweight and metal fan housing. That was the change. The ES is the predecessor of the ETS. The tools are often talked about without the suffix (EQ). So the ETS 125 and ETS 125 EQ are the same tool.

Shane is right, I own both a ES125 and ETS125, there is no noticeable differences in the units I have.

And how long ago was the ES discontinued?

Yes, both have variable speed control. The ES/DS/RS were replaced with the ETS/DTS/RTS around 2007ish as I recall.
