Reconditioned Tools Question...

I'm looking at getting a couple of the recon tools and was wondering what condition they are really in?  Some are at 10% and some at 20%...what's the real world difference?  I'm sure they will be in regular Festool working order, but should I be expecting a pretty darn near new tool with little or no cosmetic blemishes or should I be expecting less.  Are you all happy with your purchases?

I  purchased a couple of reco-tool from the last sale. Tools looked almost like new.  They were in the 20% off range.

Just got a c15 at 20% off.  It looks good as new.  Heck, I dont think it was even used.

I would suggest you act quickly since this has been broadly publicized now. Lots of tools were sold today and inventory levels will quickly decrease. Not a scare tactic, I just don't want anyone to regret waiting until something is sold out.

Funny you should say that.  I ordered mine this afternoon.  About 2 minutes later, I went back to the list to see what else I might want and the tools I just ordered were not longer on the list!  That was fast!  Whew...just made it...

All of the Recon tools I have bought have looked brand new ( with the exception of the TS75 that had a speck of dust on the blade [tongue])

I guess the only thing to consider is the warrantee being shortened, but I think the reduction in price offsets that.

I used to buy Porter Cable recons and all of them looked new, other than an "R" melted into the plastic.  I have an OF1010 and a TS75 EQ coming...can't wait to see them! [big grin]

The TI 15 I ordered finally arrived yesterday and is in great shape.  It's not showroom new, but there's very little wear and tear on it.  The Systainer was as close to new as you can get it.  The OF 1010 I ordered the last time Festool had the sale was similarly in great shape.

Locally (Oz) we only get a sprinkling of ex demo/etc tools that sneak onto Ebay. You guys are very lucky. [sad]

I got my HL 850 E planer today (20% off) and I can't tell that it's used in any way.  I've had new Festools show up that had scuffs.

Hey Shane ,

why dont they offer the recondition tools in canada.

I have a friend there who wants to get a 2200 router.

I mentioned they had some recon ones.

He says he cant buy them there.

I understand the contest rules with the quebec folks but recon tools?

Im just curious.

Reconditioned tools are available in Canada. Participating Canadian dealers there can get reconditioned tools on behalf of their customers. Feel free to have your friend contact me if he has any questions.

On the reconditioned tool page of our website it states:

Canadian customers: Please contact your preferred dealer in Canada for information about pricing and availability of reconditioned tools.

Why can't we just go ahead and order them from ANY online retailer? It seems fairly ridiculous that in this day and age they can't accommodate international purchases.

Anyone have a list of the elusive Canadian Dealers who actually wouldn't mind helping with these?

Have a good one,

Vi_k

[big grin]Well, just got my order of reconditioned tools.  I got a TS75EQ, an OF1010 and a RO150 FEQ.  All of them really look like they are brand new tools that have been handled a little, but not even used.  The OF1010 still has the plastic covering the bottom plate.  All of them were 20% off.  I feel I got a really good deal, because I know that any of the tools are not working exactly as they should, I can send them back to Festool to made exact.  Thanks for all of your comments.  It really helped me to take the dive. [big grin]

Oh yeah...forgot about the Jigsaw TRION PS 300 EQ, that's still on it's way.  [big grin]
