Matthew,
I'm trying to get some of my friends to join the forum, who didn't come over from the old Yahoo space. It is difficult to find out how to tell them to do so. Recommend that "registration instructions" be a topic or tab so we all could be ambassidors for the SCM site. I don't pay any attention to logging in any more, as I've placed an icon on my desktop which logs me in and registers (somehow) me for immediate access. Very nice and handy consequently I don't know how to tell someone else how to.
When I went to HELP, I did find a topic on registration, which said that the word REGISTER would be available on any page in the header. On mine it is not, perhaps it is there if one arrives as a guest. So I've cut and pasted that address in an email to send to him; then will tell him also how to enter the contest, so he doesn't have to learn the whole site before he discovers it.
So, in a rambely way, I'm suggesting that we have a short paragraph describing how to join, 3 features and benefits whcih we could blast off in an email to any likely suspects.
Sort of " Hi Craig (insert your friend's name here), I've recently joined a very ineresting forum on Festools, the excellent, precise, expensive but worth it, tools from Germany. I thought you might be inerested in visiting the forum to find out how Festool owners, ameture and professional alike, are sharing ideas among themselves and even with the Company. And, to attract new members, there is a drawing for the amazing Domino tool being introduced in the US on April first. Not to rush you, but the drawing is only in February, and there are 4 left to be drawn.
Go to http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?action=help;page=registering to log in, or you can visit (lurk) just by going to www.festoolownersgrou.com (I don't know if these can be clicked; you may have to copy and paste in your browser).
If you want to enter the drawing, go to the folder on "Domino raffle discussion" (it's really a drawing, not a raffle, as there is no cost to enter).
Give it a try!
All the best, Mike (your name here)"
And we need to do it fast, in order to take advantage of the 4 weeks of drawings left. waddaya think?
Mike
