Thanks Shane!  I thought it was a big waste of expense to ruin that $300. A sheet bamboo core plywood by dying it that Bordeaux red color though....my new mantra is "as long as you're paying you can make as many terrible choices as you like" LOL

wow. how did you like working with the bamboo? did you dye it red or does it come that way? I recently built a Koa and Bamboo table and would have loved to have changed the color!

I usually use Homestead dyes. I mix 50/50 denatured alcohol and lacquer thinner(as a retarder) which avoids the fish eyes from too rapid of evaporation. I also use kemaqua plus clear top coats I had to tint the kemaqua plus to achieve this color on the very yellow bamboo plywood. The color required to get this deeper "wine" red was actually VERY close to pepto bismal. Very hot pink and horrible to look at
