Reducing Adapter for 36mm port to 27mm Hose?

While I understand that it's better to use the 36mm hose with the HL 850 E, I'd like to get by without adding another hose to the garage (I have six floating around here already). I would like to get an adapter to fit the 850's port to the 27mm hose.

Was looking through FT's website and found the DCD 36/27. Is this the right choice? Festool really doesn't tell you much or show examples of it's deployment (which would be helpful).

[member=82312]onocoffee[/member] Try the 27 mm hose you have on the 850.

The ends on the older 27mm hoses were designed to fit over the 27mm tool port AND fit INSIDE the 36mm tool ports. So it should fit without an adapter.

I do not have any of the newer hoses but they are hopefully the same design.

No that makes a D36 hose into a D27 end.

As Ron said, the D27 hose end should fit into the port. The problem you may have is that planer chips can get caught in the connection because the hose is inside the planer port, then build up and plug it. But give it a try might be fine for your use.

There's a guy on the forum looking for 2 27mm hoses, sell hum yours and get the 36mm.

Pretty sure OPs hoses are D27/32 as he is fresh to FT and those ship with the vacs. Not the D27(/27) type the other guy is looking for ..

On original topic - as mentioned, the ends should fit inside the tool port. With the newer hose it may take some convincing, but after the bayonet protrusions there is still a "simple" outer sealing ring on the new hose ends.

The D36 hose end fits over, the D27 inside.

See if the HL 850 has a "natural" direction the chips flow. My EHL 65 can have the hose on either side, but it launches the chips to one side on it's own.

The cross section is way smaller with the D27 hose end, especially with the newer bayonet monstrosities and they might jam. But it works

Thanks all. Mino is right, I’m fresh to FT and have the new generation of hose.

The HL850 I have is an older build and I don’t know if that makes a difference - the 27 end will fit in the 850 port but it fits very loosely and easily flops out - which is why I’m wondering if there is an adapter.

On the adapter for the 850 that I just acquired from Recon, the 36mm AND 27mm both fit inside the adapter.

The 36 is a nice tight fit on the lip of the adapter, the 27 seats completely inside the adapter, with the collar of the connector actually sealing on the port.  The ribs at the tip of the rubber connector go just past a ridged bit inside the 850 adapter and help "lock" it into place.

It REALLY necks down the opening, so I don't know how effective it would be, but it's definitely sealed.

Part number on my adapter is 715 067, in case the adapter on your older model is different.

The D36 has a bayonet too now, and that port still looks perfectly smooth on the outside?

I'd have to find a 50mm hose to test it, but I think that's the only hose that would fit over the outside of that port.

I use a 50mm with mine, I don’t use it often but when I needed to replace an exterior wall, I used it to make the angle on the stiffening rude for a 14’ brace. The 50mm and my Fein vac meant minimal clean up.

[member=75217]squall_line[/member]  Thanks, I'm going to check the part number on mine.

[member=25351]rst[/member] 50mm? I just saw one the other day. I think they're cheaper than the 36mm, correct?

Ono, I bought my hoses years ago and actually have two Fein and two Festool.  I suspect the Fein may be cheaper.  I also use the 50mm hose to connect the Festool CMS splitter to my Incra Wonderfence and Dust Router for my router table. I end up with minimal dust escaping.

Understood. I'll have to see who carries Fein in my area. I've already got two more hoses in addition to the ones on the vac, so why not another!

You comment reminds me that I do need to upgrade my router table. I've got the Incra Combo #3 which has the WonderFence and LS Positioner but it only has the plate to mount a Freud FT2200. Was using it yesterday to do 60deg chamfers and underneath was just covered in dust and shavings. What are you using for collection below the table?

I’ve been using a “Dust Router” collection system ever since it was developed. It’s now sold my Milescraft, although I think there are other versions now.  It has a Y splitting hose similar to the Festool CMS hose. I capped the Y that was to the fence. One of the Festool hose goes the the exit connect on the Dust Router and the other to my Incra fence. I connect the CMS exit hose to the 50mm hose and the other end to my Oneida cyclone

Hmm, now I doubt if my earlier statements were correct on the HL 850 dust port.

The 50 isn't (yet?) available in smooth. Where I live the D36 smooth is still cheaper than the ribbed D50.

If you end up buying a 36 mm hose, look at Festool's cleaning sets in a systainer. Some of them include the woven 36 mm hose, and they are ridiculously cheap compared to buying a hose and a systainer separately.

Yes, this has been mentioned several times, but bears repeating. That is one of the hidden gems, the deal is not as good as it used to be, but still very much worth it.
