Time is money - unless you have all the time in the world... For most, getting something done Faster, Easier, and Smarter has value. Some don't perceive that value for various reasons.
For those that make money using tools, it's an ROI calculation. The calculation is more complicated than it appears, just like most ROI calculations are. Sometimes when people are counting employee cost(s), they fail to include the full burden rate (wages, tax contributions, health care, etc.). It's common, in employment situations, for the fully loaded burden to be 140% - 200% of the money that is paid out in wages or salary. If you save an hour of someone's time, it could count for twice what goes to them. That's just the start of the complexity. The other aspects include (but are not limited to) quality of work & limiting scrap, timeliness of completion, customer perception & referrals, plus, in some cases, regulatory compliance.
For those that use tools for enjoyment, it's hard to put a number to what increased enjoyment is worth. Again, everyone is different... Some gain their greatest satisfaction from making something out of nothing and the relative struggle. Others revel in more volume of comfortable achievement.
Waiting for 10% off or even 20%-30% off can cost a lot more than the savings achieved by not waiting.
A few days ago and on another forum, someone asked me if Festool was worth the price. I responded that it depends on what you value. Everyone is different but when I perceive value and I wait, I always kick myself in the butt for delaying reaping the reward.
