First of all hello every one one the forum I need help and advice I recently bought a brand new kapex on eBay kapex nex in its box so that was 3 weeks ago been really busy on job site so only getting to register the tool now,I am the proud owner of 13 Festool Power Tools and never had a problem to register so emailed the  t and s numbers to festool first they asked me did I know sellers name as apparently he had registered to tool before sending it to me,I spent two hours then found it before sending the seller was a little long organizing DHL and to calm me he took 4 or 5 photos of the kapex carton ready for the delivery and yes on the photo he had the ticket with his name and address plus mine and also the date of pickup and the tracking number all e mailed to me great I thought sorted! but no after sending all to festool sellers name and address I was then told I would need an email from the seller authorizing the transfare of the guarantee i so I went back to eBay and seller no longer exists so back to festool and I am being told nothing to do,I am almost traumatized lol I have 10 or12 machines registered so we are in the 6,000€ 7.000€ figures I trust festool with my tool investment every day it has left me feeling like I am being put in a no win situation asking if you know the name the you produce it an bas that’s not enough! I thought name and address of previous owner was enough, can someone please clarify this for me please I am in France working at the moment
Kind regards
Patrick

By "I went back to eBay and seller no longer exists," do you mean the transaction or the seller no longer exists? It is rare that soon after an ebay transaction, the seller would cancel his or her account. In your Festool deal, could you still see the Contact seller button? (Go to MY eBay - Summary - the Festool transaction - More actions).

hmmmf.... what if you never registered a machine?

I have 2 out 8 that are not reg'd. I have the receipt and all.
Sometimes life gets in the way and you pass it up.

I wouldn't try to resolve this over email with them, I would call and speak with someone.  In the US, they would just base it on the date of purchase.  And if you don't have documentation to support that, they will use the manufacture date on the tool and work off that.  This extra level of scrutiny requiring a letter to transfer the warranty may be a way to thwart tool theft, but the fact that you provided the name and address of the seller (and if it matches what they have in their records) should be sufficient.  Call them and ask nicely, explaining that you cannot get back in touch with the seller, but you do have documentation regarding the eBay purchase and see if they will work with you.

Maybe [member=57769]TylerC[/member] can put you in touch with someone in France that can assist?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts I will try the human side later today and give festool a call I have contacted eBay about the closure of the account and apparently it is absolutely normal and nothing to be concerned about as a lot of sellers work like this open, sell, and close and as long as item bought was received it’s ok end of story! 🤔
