Reliability of display tools

I'm considering getting a second hand tool that is advertised as new, but was originally a Display model.  I'm wondering what people's experiences are with displays, and their reliability?

  Good question, but I think it depends on price as well as how long the warranty remains in effect. Can you get hands on or a picture? In general, demo tools are used in a controlled setting and there is more handling and button pushing than actual use.

I am clarifying this with Festool, but my understanding is that warranties are transferable.

Thanks Bob.  I actually took the liberty of contacting Brett at Festool to clarify -- there's a difference between a display and a demo tool.  Warranty still applies to display version, but not to Demo.  So I would just need to verify with original dealer that this was, indeed, a display version.

I have purchase a couple demo tools from my local Rockler when they had them. The nice thing about a demo tool is, since it was used during their shows and demonstrations in addition to letting customers try them out in a controlled environment, if there was an operating issue you can bet it was corrected or replaced so that the wrong image wasn't being promoted.
