Hi thanks for reading. I'm a carpenter in England, I have what I'd call a pretty extensive Festool carpentery kit, all in 110v.
So my partner and I have 2 year working visas for Canada, and where are heading for Calgary. I can get my tools shipped out qwite cheap, but I have seen a few websites that say British 110v tools will work but I won't be able to use them.
I was thinking if I brought some of the Canadian plug it leads it would work a treat.

Any help will be gratefull of any help or info

Cheers

What are you going to be doing? They should work fine it's just if the site/ company/ employer wants them inspected for the proper ul labels. I worked in Canada for 20 years on sites and the only thing the safety inspector really checked was you extension cables were in good shape, no tears and the ground part of the male plug was not broken off. Things may have changed. I left 12 years ago.

Not sure as yet, I do carpentry and joinery in England, I have qwite a lot of experience across the board, from frameing to marking stairs and furniture. I was interested in log frameing but still a little unsure. Thanks for your reply

Will CSA approval of tools be an issue?

Hi I'm unsure as I carnt find a definitive anwser? I am kinda thinking that the Festool tools should be up to any standerd any where?
I carnt seem to find a definitive answer?

Thanks for your help.

You can Look on your tools.  On the manufacturer's label on my TS 75 (only Festool tool out at the moment) there is a CSA, C, U mark of approval.  I live in the US and know nothing much about Canadian regs other than most electrical devices, including tools must have CSA approval to be sold.  As far as using them on site, having been made for the English market, I don't know.  Sorry, not much help, but you should probably check with Festool England.

Best wishes

I would consider bringing some UK outlets and some UK female ends and just use them cheaters.

There was a recall some years ago of all MIDI and MINI vacs sold in Canada as it was discovered they were not UL Canadian approved.  Atlas Machinery in Toronto had told me it was one they sold where the user on a jobsite was being inspected and there it was discovered they were not approved and he couldn't use it.  These were vac models that had been sold for many years here without a hitch.  Suddenly, Festool was doing a massive recall.  All the other Festool CT's were apparently fine at the time for use in Canada.  The MIDI and MINI have since been reintroduced.  FWIW.
