All,

Found an excellent article by Frank Pellow on replacing motor brushes on my non-functioning Rotex. Looked like a simple job. Remove 2 screws at the back of the housing and slide the housing back..... NOT. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Any tips? Many thanks in advance. Dave.

This is the article Dave mentions:

Where exactly doesn't it work for you Dave?

The article is quite self explanatory and pretty elaborated as we are used to from Frank, with lots of pics. You really have to remove only two screws on the back and the bottom part slides off. Done it myself with a Ro150, and with a DX93 sander I have which has the same body as the RO150E.

It is of course possible the part has become stuck a bit over time. After removing the two screws fully, try wiggling it a bit. There are no other screws or clips holding it together, only friction.

The new Supplemental Manual for RO sanders is currently being reviewed. So it is technically unreleased. However, it does contain procedures for replacing brushes in all of the RO series sanders. The procedure is dirt simple and should take only a few minutes. The RO150 is a slight exception because the linkage for the power trigger passes over one of the brushes. I do show how to remove the linkage, and it is fairly simple.

Alex posted while I was typing. I didn't fully review Frank Pellow's procedure, but I do see that it is for the older model Rotex sander.

Thanks guys.  It's REALLY stuck.  At least I know it's not going to break something by applying force......Thanks again.  Dave.
