:-\hello guys  engaged aggressive mode  pressed green button rotated pad  bot in clock and anti clockwise direction but to no avail what am i doing  wrong?

The button is pretty difficult to engage on mine. You have to push it up...as in towards the sky when you have the sander resting on a table.

Edit: see what Tom said, I remembered the process incorrectly.

You must have the pad in gear driven orbital (big dots) or there is no way to lock it.

Also, there is an arrow symbol on the button. Push it in the direction of the arrow and it works easily.

Thanks for your help guys.
Doing what you said and as shown on YouTube
But it not budging
Must be seized :-[

It can get stuck but it's just a sixth turn, or so, in the counter-clockwise direction. Can you successfully lock the arbor?

Tom

I had a similar problem on mine.  Actually two problems.  The button was really sticky, which made it difficult to press in the angled fashion it was designed to move.  My button seemed slightly oversized to start, or perhaps mounted slightly askew -- in any case, after a month it abraded somewhat so it's now easier to push.

The second problem was with the arbor nut/screw, a piece one normally doesn't touch.  Once I got the pad off for the first time (with difficulty), I couldn't mount any other except for the one it came with.  When I brought it to the dealer we loosened the screw ever so slightly, which fixed the issue and allowed other pads to be mounted.

thanks again  for all replies
brute force and sheer ignorance, not words usually associated with festool
inverted sander in vice  pressed green lock button and tapped  in anti clockwise direction with hammer and punch
was not  budging otherwise
alls well that ends well
ps. great tool
