Hi:  Does anyone have experience removing fine scratches from a Corian sink with a Festool Sander?  I have a RO90 and an ETS 150/3EQ.

Thanks
John

Use the ETS, try start whit speed 4. Start whit 320 grit. If it don't do it 220 and so on.

When I finnish a Corian installation I start sanding 120-220-320. When put a polish soft pad on and use the fast mode and regular marine fiberglass polish.

The 120 grit (or even 80 grit sometimes) is needed to brake throw the resin layer thats left form the manufacturing process for the surface to really pop and get all the grain show.

Hope it can help you.

Regards

That's right.  Work backwards through the grits from fine to coarse until you get the scratches out, then work back up, feathering out over the edge of the last grit.  I don't use a polish for anything other than high-gloss, but I would use red scotchbrite with water.  Then gray scotchbrite if the finish warranted it.

If you polish to a high gloss, get some stanchions and velvet ropes and barricade the sink area off from the rest of the world.  Even looking at it too closely will scratch it.

When you change grits, be sure to wipe down the area you just worked on with a damp paper towel to remove any residue of the former grit or you'll be scratching what you just did.  I've attached a brief document you might want to peruse.
