I have a 2-3 year old DTS. I cant really remember exactly when it was purchased but it kight be just outisde or insode the three year window. AnYway one of the small cord pins snapped off with the female portion on the tool itself.

Is this a send the sander in for repairs kinda thing or order the part and do it myself.

Also the wheel lock broke on my CT midi and i need the whole assembly.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I would order the part and do it myself. I have done this a couple of times. The part is cheap and it is a very easy repair, you have to take out 6 screws and that's it.

Letting festool do it would turn a $5 repair into a $80 repair.

Only do this if your comfortable maintaining your own tools.

I know that you aren't sure when you purchased it, but I recommend that you start by trying to determine that. If you purchased it less than 3 years ago, you should definitely send it in for repair.

If you're outside of the three-year window, it gets a little more complicated. I know that some people have done the repair themselves relatively easily. However, any time that you open up the tool, you risk voiding your warranty, which is not something that I would recommend.

Check the label on the side of the tool for a manufacturing date, written as mm/yy. If that date is within three years, the purchase date will be as well.
