Someone asked me to help them with restoring this chair back.  I don't do restoring, but I told the person that I would try to find some information...
I thought of two possible solutions to these problems (please, see pics)
1. Fill with epoxy, sand until flush, stain the surrounding area to match
2. Cut the parts out and put in a new piece.

Anyone else have an idea?
What would one charge for something like this?
Does anyone want this job?

Thanks, for your input.

Make a new part.  Cut out the design from the old piece and create a thin veneer from it.  Inlay the design in the new part or laminate the thin veneer to the new part.

You might want to call Andrea Daley at Restoration Specialists in Troy, NY. Don't know if she would be interested in the job, but she could offer some advice or may be able to refer someone closer to you. Tell her Tony (& Mark) in So. Cal. referred her. Andrea's Contact Info
