Now is time to review the most mysterious beast in the sander’s pack: RS2E light surface sander.
RS2E is half sheet orbital sander that was designed for sanding large and delicate surfaces to deadly flat condition. It's is much less popular than Rotex or ETS lines but it has its own highlights and benefits.

RS2E sander goes in Systainer 2. The standard scope of delivery includes:
- RS2E sander
- Systainer 2
- User’s manual
- Dust bag holder

- One abrasive sheet.

Check out size of sanding surface. It is almost twice as sanding surface of 6” sander! This large sanding surface leveling table tops very well. I’ve tried this sander and solid wood and veneered surfaces, and it worked as a charm.

From the first glance it has parameters of regular sander. But it’s really not. Operation is extremely smooth.

Additional handle helps to control this sander precisely. I didn’t feel any fatigues even after few hours of using this sander, thanks to vibration – stop design. RS2E has integrated dust extraction system than can be used with dust bag or with vacuum. Dust virtually not presented if sander is attached to vacuum. Small 2.5 mm sanding strokes make sanding scratch pattern extremely smooth.
Sanding strokes size is very close to highly popular ETS-125EQ (2mm), but with coarse grits RS2E sander is extremely aggressive.

RS2E works with regular Festool hook and loop sandpaper, or can use any sandpaper thanks to special clamps. (This is standard equipment). Festool sells hole puncher (P/N 481523) as an additional accessory.

Festool produces wide variety of hook and loop sandpaper for this sander from P40 up to P800.
Another good accessory is systainer for abrasives (P/N 487433). It keeps all abrasives neatly organized and always ready to go.
