Review of the Festool Installer/Tradesperson Cleaning Set by Brice Burrell.

This is a nice cleaning kit, Type D 36 HW-RS, Installer(tradesman) cleaning set.Includes: #4 Systainer with deep drawn insert SYS TZE-RS, Anti-Static Suction hose: D 36 x 11.5? (3.5m),Curved hand tube: D 36 HR-M, Extension tube: D 36 VR-M 3x, Carpet nozzle: D 36 FD, Crevice nozzle: D 36 FD, Upholstery nozzle: D 36 PD, Suction Brush: D 36 SP.

The set includes stainless steel extension tubes (with all the tubes connected the total length is 49"). With a crevice and two brush nozzles plus the floor nozzle this is a pretty well rounded kit.

Here a close look at the floor nozzle, the nylon bristle brush has two positions, down and retracted. For hard surfaces like wood or ceramic floors the bush is down. With the bush retracted you're ready for vacuuming carpeted floors. The nozzle also has a wheel on the bottom this really helps the nozzle glide across the floor.

I've used the short extension tubes and floor attachments that come with the other brand shop vacuums that I have to bend over to use. The Festool metal extensions are long and sturdy, no more bending over to vacuum the floor.

Here I'm getting some dust off the side rail of my MFT. The plastic nozzles don't leave black marks on any surface unlike some of the other brand vac attachments.

This set really isn't made for heavy duty cleanups it's best suited for intermediate to final cleanups on a job. Since it brakes down to fit into the Systainer and clips on the top of the vac its easily portable. I've had this set for a few years now and it's held up beautifully. I decided to buy this set when I wanted the larger D36 hose to use with my Festool OF1400 router and other tools, buying this cleaning set offered a better value than buying the hose by itself. So if you are thinking about getting the larger D36 hose you may want to look into one of the cleaning set that come with a hose.

I bought that set for the same reason, I needed more hose for ladder work.
The rest of the items in there were just a bonus for me. 

The only complaint is getting it all back in there!!

Sorry to be blunt, but how to justify paying that much for something you can buy cheaper and it will fit the festool vacuums.

I have a Ridgid vacuum and it fits in my ct22 and all the accesories as well.

Well, the anti-static hose for starters.  I am up on ladders or in the bucket of a lift and I needed more reach without having to hoist a 22 in the air.

A.S. for sanding, that is its main use.

It was only like 175 bucks when I bought it.

I have this set and I LOVE it! I mostly bought it for the D36 hose, but have really grown to appreciate the accessories as well, particularly the bristled brush. I was able to leave my Ridgid at home this week, and thanks to the kit I was able to clean up my project with my CT22 each day (we're nearing the end of a kitchen install). Yeah, it's spendy, but if you're in the field a lot it comes in handy more often than you'd think!  ;D

Hi there Fidelfs!

I guess the big question to ask is, do you need a 36mm hose? If a person foresaw that he/she would need a 36mm hose for, say, a Kapex, planer or router, then since they're already spending the money why not get the set so they have some accessories and a case for the hose? If you don't need/want the 36mm hose, then yeah I would have had a harder time justifying it, though now that I own it I certainly don't regret it.  ;D Have a great weekend!

How well does the floor nozzle work on carpet?  We need to replace our home vac and I'm looking at picking up a midi to fill that need and serve as my on-site vac as well.  Will that nozzle suffice for cleaning carpet and hardwood floors?  I was looking at this set but then was intrigued by the fact that the compact set has more of a variety of nozzles.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but Fein sells an electric floor brush you can attach to your hose, I've been looking at it for cleaning customer's carpets.

I would think it would be compatible with the Festool hoses. I have found my D36 hose to be much better suited to jobsite clean up than my D27, BTW.

The Multi-Purpose Floor Nozzle that comes with this cleaning set is designed to adjust to carpet or bare floors and can also be used with the MIDI or MINI because it accepts a 27 mm hose or tube. Of course, the more suction, the better...

The Turbo Suction Brush has spinning brushes that are driven by the air but it is designed to be used with a 36 mm hose.

How well does the floor nozzle work on carpet?  We need to replace our home vac and I'm looking at picking up a midi to fill that need and serve as my on-site vac as well.  Will that nozzle suffice for cleaning carpet and hardwood floors?  I was looking at this set but then was intrigued by the fact that the compact set has more of a variety of nozzles.

It works pretty well considering it doesn't have a spinning brush. If you have a lot of carpet you'd be better off with a brush nozzle like the ones Tom and Tom linked to.

I don't have this set, but I do have the workshop set with the aluminum sweep, and it is awesome (and was probably more).  I don't regret it one bit.

I also have the workshop set with the aluminum sweep.  It works very well.  Someone mentioned potential interchangeability of Fein and Festool vacuum accessories, and they are correct.  I frequently use my Festool SS tube wand and aluminum floor sweep nozzle with my Fein Turbo II including its very flexible non-AS 16ft (5 m) hose since my CT 22 and its 36 mm hose are fitted with my Boom Arm.  I can also use my Fein accessories with my CT vacuum to sweep hardwood and carpeted flooring in my house.  I prefer the round brush accessory supplied by Fein to the elongated brush supplied by Festool because the bristles of the Fein brush are a little softer.  Also, the Fein crevice tool is shorter than that of Festool.  That means sometimes the Festool crevice tool can reach into a recess not able to be reached by the Fein crevice tool, and at other times the Festool crevice tool is too long to orient as needed, e.g. when cleaning some recessed areas of an automobile where other parts of the car prevent positioning the crevice tool as desired.  In summary, I'm glad I have both Festool and Fein vacuum machines and their respective accessories.
