The poll about Kapex problems (http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=4626.msg67407;topicseen#msg67407) closed about 6 months ago.  From what I have heard and observed, it appears to me that most the problems have been resolved.

I am going to start a new poll with (almost) the same questions as the original and see how the results compare.

I did add four options to expand upon the reasons that people are not going to purchase a Kapex.

The poll will run for 60 days.

added later in the day when I originally posted the poll: The option: "Waiting until I can afford it"

Frank, wasn't it you who said he would never have a need for a Kapex?  Have you had a change of heart or am I just thinking of someone else who said that.

What about "problem from the start(well in a week) or developed a problem and went to another brand"?

I qualify as two of the choices. "Problem from the start not fixed"(after a week) and now " decided not to buy happy with my(new) current" saw.

I guess "changed to another brand due to problems with the Kapex" would be me.

I did say that and the option that I voted for was: "I've decided not to buy the Kapex because I don't need a power miter saw"

Since I said that, I have used the Kapex quite a bit in order to demo it in Dan Clermont's Festool booth at the recent Toronto Woodworking show.  The Kapex is a very very well designed and made tool and I really do wish that I could justify purchasing one.

Frank,

How do I vote.  Make my living cuttin up wood and istalling it.  Would love to but got to file taxes first.  Then might have to wait for economy to get better.

I guess we need a  new option -something like "Waiting until I can afford it"

Thanks for that - I was going to ask you to add that one, but you beat me to it!

What about if you bought the saw and then took it back within the 30 days because you think it was not worth the $1300.00?

If I had done that, I would answer: "I've decided not to buy the Kapex due to the price"

I just found out (second hand info) that a friend is drooling over the Kapex.  I don't think he has much of anything else in way of power tools other than a Craftsman circular saw.  My advice to him would be to forget the Kapex for a starting "GOOD" tool.  He could do a whole lot more by getting the TS 55 and MFT/3. There would even be money left to get a CT Midi or 22. Unless he does a lot of work and expects to use the Kapex extensively, he might not be happy with the lack of versatility.  He would not be able to rip, staighten a crooked edge, square a rip edge or make a glueable edge lengthwise.  All of these plus the compound mitered edges can be done with the TS 55 or 75.
He would even have some cash left over to slide further down the slippery slope before he would ever get back to thinking Kapex and its high pricetag.  (am I still drooling myself?  Ohhhh yeah!)
