Using Robert Millard's plans and Glen Huey's finishing formula for finishing Tiger Maple, I built these Pipe Boxes as teacher gifts for my kids' teachers.
They came out OK, but I found that I just HATE shellac as it dries too fast to work (for me anyway).

Beautifully done.  Did you use a scroll saw to cut the detail work?

Yes, I did.
Robert Millard had the free full scale plans on his website americanfederalperiod.com.
So, I downloaded it, made master templates/patterns out of 1/4" hardboard, scroll sawed the pieces to shape, and then used the template to finish it off with a spiral flush trim bit.
All of the corners, however, were done with chisel work to get nice, crisp corners.
