Ripping blades?

I like using my TS75 for straight edging rough lumber.  I can understand when it bogs and burns cutting 8/4 cherry.  The other day it was doing the same on some 4/4 hard maple.  The blade is not that old.  I've read the problems with the wider kerf of the panther blades wrecking the rubber strip.  Aside from that, is the cut on a panther blade as good as the regular blade?  It seems like it would leave a real rough cut with such few teeth.  Not that it matters much because I always follow up with a pass on the jointer.

I read somewhere that Forrest was making blades for Festool saws but I can't seem to find them.  Maybe they make a tk ripping blade.

The 14 tooth panther blade has a slightly wider kerf than 48 tooth blade that came with my ts55.

the panther blade does not leave a great finish - it does what it says on the tip - it's for ripping.. plane it off afterwards and it's fine...

In the uk they were supposed to change the kerf of the blade so it's the same (2.2mm?) as the others - thus stopping the aforementioned issue. But - make sure your not getting old stock..

The TS75 comes with the 28 teeth blade which I believe has the same kerf width as the panther.  The TS55 comes with a 48 teeth blade which has a thinner kerf than all the other blades.  I just bought a set of 28 and 12 teeth Tenryu blades for my TS55.  The are the same kerf width as the festool 48 teeth blade.  Tenryu also offers a thin kerf blade (with a thin riving knife).  FYI, you still can see saw marks on the wood from the ripping blade.

JGA.
