FWIW...
I've been working on a bathroom remodel and I needed to carve out an 18" x 15" x 3/8" deep pocket in plaster lathe (3/8" drywall) to accept a water tank for an in-wall toilet. I used a Rotex 125 at max geared speed, 80 grit Abranet and a MIDI on max. Things went well until the Abranet plugged up, at which time I swapped it out for 60 grit Granat and the problem went away.

The real lesson learned is in the photos below. Take a close look and you'll see that the heavy dust that was not picked up by the vac, simply fell straight down to the floor while the majority (probably over 80%) was vacuumed up. Also note that there is not a fine coating of drywall dust on every surface as is usually the case.

These are great results for a very nasty sanding situation. I was not always able to keep the Rotex flat on the surface and when that happened, waves of drywall dust would roll off the Rotex and fall on the floor.

The thing that impressed me the most, is that there was no airborne dust and that made cleanup simple.
