I can take the pad off after using the sander for just a few minutes, and the part that the pad slips on to is too hot to touch. Handle gets really warm too.
I just got it last week. Ive read that the motor just needs to break in. Is this the case or just wishful thinking? Any suggestions or experience with this?

Hi

The ro 150 does get quite warm as do some other festools . don't worry about it just use it, and if it is faulty festool service in the States is first class.

Hi jduke,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

The Rotex series definitely  gets pretty warm / hot.

Thanks Seth, yeah today I talked to Steve at Festool customer service ( really nice guy by the way), and he told me not to worry about it. I also told him that the sander they sold me at Woodcraft was the one that was on display. For some reason, they took the one on display down and grabbed the systainer for it and headed for the register. I didn't say anything because they were doing a swap for a Mirka Ceros that I was returning. Anyway, I told Steve that I think the pad was a little wobbly (maybe dropped), and he's sending me a new pad. Great customer service so far. Thanks for the help!

Hi,
With the new multi-jetstream 17 hole abrasive and pad the temperature should be less. Also try both modes of operation rotex and rotary.
regards
Colin
