I am putting together an assortment of sanding/polishing accessories and consumables in the T-Loc Systainer, 497687, that I think will make the RO 90 more useful.

Here's what I think should be in it and I invite suggestions...

495625, D90 Polishing Pad
495623, D90 Hard Pad
1 @ Hard & Soft Felt
1 @ M/F/XF Sponge
1 Sheepskin
1 Premium Sheepskin

10 each of the following:
D90 Rubin - P 80, P 100, P 120, P 150, P180
D90 Br2 - P 40, P 60, P80, P100, P 120, P 150, P 180, P 220, P 240, P 320, P 400
DX93 Rubin - P 80, P 100, P 120, P 150, P180
DX93 Br2 - P 40, P 60, P80, P100, P 120, P 150, P 180, P 220, P 240, P 320, P 400

The price for this would be $280.

I thought about adding some Granat like "someone" suggested in another thread, but then thought that the sander comes with an assortment of Granat and the purpose of this offering is to get the buyer off to a running start. Having used the contents included, one would have a better idea of how to stock in greater quantities of the right sort of abrasives and polishing components.

What do you think?

I'd think most people won't be interested in the polishing accessories, I could be wrong.  For me, I'll buy them if I ever feel the need.

After getting more use out of the Granat I really like the stuff.  However, my needs are more geared towards rough work, paint stripping and more aggressive stock removal.  The Granat is good at that because of its open grit spacing.  If it had a thicker backing it would be perfect.  The down side is it leaves fairly course/deep scratches.  So, Tom may be on the right track with the Rubin/Brilliant assortment as the more practical choice for most people.

Thanks, Brice. That's the kind of feedback I was looking for.

So, if I take out the polishing stuff and the hard pad, it brings the price back to $160.

I'm wondering if I should offer both versions?

Tom

yes tom i feel you would be better off offering a sanding systainer with paper assortment and a set of polishing pads +odds and ends for polishing in a box as another sys probably wouldn't be needed.

Tom,

Just this morning I picked up an RO 90 DX hard pad which was back-ordered when my I got my sander. On my RO150 and RO 125 I nearly always use hard pads. So for sure cat 495 623 needs to be in the assortment along with the Rubin and Brilliant2 papers you mention. I agree that since Granat is part of the sander package, those who want more will buy those Granat grits.

I also agree that I do not foresee a need for the polishing accessories for the RO 90 DX. I have those for my RO 150, and I have several other polishers. In 50 years I have never needed a compact polisher able to get into tight places. If customers do want all the polishing accessories why not pack them in a carton, with another 90mm abrasives Systainer an optional extra?

I am certain in addition to the hard pad, there needs to be: an Interface pad for Supersoft abrasives, cat 497 481; a Delta Hard Pad, cat 488 716; a Delta Soft Pad, cat 488 715; the Protector Set, cat 495 623

Everyone please note I copied these cat numbers from the 2011 catalog, so these might not be entirely accurate.

I thought about those additions also, Carroll. I think it's best just to let people order them a la carte. The advantage of the way it turned out is that the user can have a few of many to figure out how they use the sander. Then, they can fill it up with the ones they use most. It also keeps the cost of entry down.

Tom

Tom, you make an excellent point.

Since I have been using Rubin and Brilliant2 for so many years, I ordered the empty 90mm abrasives Systainer and packages of the grits I use all the time in 150mm and 125mm. I already ordered the other RO 90 DX accessories I mentioned. They will show up when Festool fills the supply pipeline.

Can I get it with out the systainer?  I already have one that is half empty.

Plus all the other stuff like the hard pad can be purchased iindividually.

So, you just want the sandpaper? Sure. Just call or email and I'll set you up, Greg.
