Just used my RO 90 for the first time - I noticed when I took the delta head off after wards, there was some light oil on it and the metal attachment head on the sander. Is this normal?

Thanks.

I have most of the festool sanders but not the ro90 but I doubt its suposed to come out why not phone service they are best placed to help, I do get a little out of the bs105 [blink]

I don't have any other sander than the RO 90 since it's launch and has been in pretty heavy use. I don't not have any oil coming out anywhere, anytime. Follow Festoolfootstool's advice I'd say.

I emailed festool and they responded that a small amount of oil at that location on the tool is normal. It's a very light, clear oil but certainly easily visible both on the metal part that the heads fasten to and there was even some transferred to the inside of the Delta head

Maybe if i'd run it for a longer time, it just would have dissipated but I only ran it for about 5 minutes total. The reason I thought it was strange was that it wasn't visible when I changed the heads before I ran it.

Certainly normal.  Most all of the RO 90's at the shop, without any use, and a quick run through with a customer, will show some "packing oil" or lubricant.

Thanks Sean, I wasn't overly concerned but just wanted to check as it's my first sander - what a difference from some of the cheaper ones I've used! - smoother, quiter, more powerful, no comparison.

No problem.  You'll enjoy'er.  It's great to have one unit that you can rely on for a myriad of projects.  May not be a jack of all trades, but pretty damn good at just about all of'em.
