RO 90 - Pricing and Video

I thinking the price difference might not be so great with the new products as the Canadian dollar is much higher now. When the price was set for the LS130 the loonie was around 80-85 cents.

Here's hoping anyway.

SO we need to start making our list. I want the:

Ro90, the Abrasives Systainers T-loc style, round and delta hard pad, protector set, and some abrasives. Oh and the extended delta pad.

Thats a good list to start with [wink]

OMG, you just wrote my birthday-present list!  Although, I'm probably going for the Classic Systainer...

Unnnlesss...
Bob or Shane or others, do you know if the RO90DX will come in a Classis or T-Loc.  Is there a buyer option?

T-Loc only. Again, all of this info will be made available to you guys on the web on Monday.

PS - I know some consider the systainer just a plastic box. But the T-Locs are killer. What a huge improvement.

I have 30 of those plastic boxes and could use some more. [cool]

I own one Tanos T-loc systainer  [smile] and I agree that they are an improvement.  I would not have added the adjective 'huge' the way Shane did, but that's just my impression.

Yup, another thumbs up for the t-loc from me. Much easier and quicker to open and smoother too. A two-year old could open it.

The downside is my two year-old can open it.  [big grin]

Here's another little sneak peek.

This video shows two of the four capabilities of the soon-to-be-released RO 90 DX multi-mode sander. Aggressive material removal in gear-driven mode, random orbital mode for finish sanding, delta-mode for detail sanding and polishing capabilities will make it the most versatile sander on the planet. Here we see aggressive mode and random orbital mode. Switching modes is just the twist of a dial.

This sander is going to be a superstar in many shops and at many job sites.

Festool RO 90 DX switching from gear-driven mode to random orbital mode

After seeing the video about Arizona sand, after growing up in AZ I can now realize why my sinuses are messed up!q

Peter

Peter,

Try using your Festools without the Arizona sand.  They'll probably work better and you'll feel better too  [tongue].

It looks very appealing Shane.  Will Festool also offer a systainer of assorted 90mm abrasives?

Ronwen - check out Bob's initial post -- he says that there will be an abrasives Systainer that will hold both round and Deltex style abrasives  8).

Scot

Just to confirm, it does come in a SYS 2 T-Loc. The abrasives systainer does accommodate the round 90mm and delta 93mm abrasives. Each space is shaped to accept either type. There are no current plans for an abrasive systainer that includes a paper assortment.

Very nice.  I really like that it was designed so "Each space is shaped to accept either type."  That's pretty smart!

Shane, is there any further information about the Granat paper?  Specifically, related to bare wood usage (and concerns) that you and Rick Bush mentioned at the November training class.

Kinda off-topic, but I don't think the guys have done any additional testing with it. The response we have gotten from the customers who have tested it has been extremely positive. I don't think Brian has taken the opportunity to testing various finishing techniques. Granat is planned to be released in Jan-Feb time frame. I expect we'll have more information to offer by then.

Just to fill in others, Granat has a Zinc Stearate coating. We do not know what effects that may have on applications where it's used on wood and then coated with various types of finishes. The concern is that it may cause fish eye or other issues. It was designed for the automotive industry and is made to outlast other abrasive types.

I believe that is an empty Systainer -- what I was wondering was if there will have a systainer filled with the variety of abrasives like they did with the RO150 special promotion.

Ron,

Not that I am aware of.
