Hi Everyone
Turned on my Rotex yesterday and it made a popping sound and then stank of burning while also tripping the MCB (NOT the RCD).
I opened it up as it’s just out of warranty and there was fluff wrapped around one of the brushes (changed by Festool last year). No other fluff inside but fine dust accumulations in bits that I carefully brushed off. I plugged it in again and the same happened - pop, burning smell and electrics tripped.
I’ve messaged someone at Festool who’s helped resolve matters in the past but they’re away and was really hoping to finish my little boys wardrobe over Easter (its my only sander) so I thought I’d ask for help/advice here to see if it’s a simple fix.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Do I wanna be buying a new one now or maybe looking st something else (not been blown over by the seeming lack of longevity (4 years DIY use - used as little as 5-10 times per year)? It was serviced last year.
Many thanks!!!!!
