I have just taken delivery of my 6th systainer, this one containing a 2nd hand RO 150. Using it last night has prompted me to think a bit more about speed control.

I used to be skeptical about speed control on the likes of vacuum cleaners, taking the view that if it isn't sucking as hard as it can, it isn't doing its job. Of late I have however found the speed control on the TS55 to be useful, and recently found the speed control on the jigsaw (not festool, sorry) very useful when cutting the new shower lining.

Which brings me back to the RO150. When using it last night I noticed that there was definite suction holding the sanding pad to the piece I was working on. I can see that is some cases this might not necessarily be desirable, and am after some feedback on other user's experiences with optimum speed settings for both the RO150 and CT22  (or equivalents) for various jobs.

Hello SG,

Simple really.

You do not want it to stick.

Turn it down to the lowest setting that still sucks.

I always wanted to write that.

When sanding on a flat surface, I usually set the CT-22 to about 1/2 speed. Seems to take all the dust and you don't get that "suction" problem. Edge sanding I turn it up a bit, since many of the holes are exposed.

Use that same rule with all my Festo sanders and it seems to solve the problem.  :)
