No it's quite common to mount large machinery on some type of isolator/vibration mount. It can be a pad (think of a piece of rubber) or it can be an actual rubber mount bolted to the equipment. It's just a decoupling mechanism that can limit the amount of vibration coming from the machine as well as limit the amount of vibration transmitted to the machine.

These guys are used in industrial applications.
