Old thread, but I have been thinking about it this long before I pulled the trigger.
I finally broke down and purchased one of these for 104.00 with 3 year warranty on Amazon and I must say it works nicely for me!
Yeah, it is basically an upside down jigsaw with guide bearing on top to hold the blade steady. It has plenty of power for me I cut 1/4"to 1/2" hardwoods and with the right blade you can get some good results once you work around its issues, like hopping around if the pressure foot is not just right. Does it replace my 20" DeWALT scroll saw, no, but for straight line cuts it actually better.
It takes Bosch T shank jig saw blades and with time, patience and the right blade you can get some darn good results. It's a 104.00 tool, not a Festool. Again, for me it's worth it for sure. Using a little jig, a fine blade and then a sanding jigsaw blade(I make them, sandpaer, adhered to fine blades) I can make these little letters pretty nicely. Heavy duty work I have no idea I don't use it for that.
And no way in heck would I make a jig for my jigsaw to work as well as this tool, well I could but why Especially for 104.00. I prefer using my Festool jigsaw when moving the tool and this Bladerunner when moving the material.
