I've been noticing that the sand paper for 1k grit tacks up with white dust quickly and easily. Work is on Corian.  Speed is 3-4.  I have the HEPA vac suction at mid point.  After about 2 sqft of a few passes the pad is white!  Why and what can i do to fix this?

500grit does the same thing pretty fast too. If you feel the sandpaper before it is used, then use it for a couple of minutes, feel it again, and you will quickly realize it is worn out. 3m sandpaper lasts longer, but doesn't really have the perfect hole pattern. Abranet is supposed to not plug like that. Haven't tried it myself yet though as I am well stocked on Granat. You can use high pressure air to blow off the sandpaper. Also if you haven't already turn the vacuum down so it doesn't pull the paper into your work as hard.

Why not switch to polish quicker?

What is the project you are working on? Color of the Corian?

switch to what?  sorry, not following your question.
What end result are you trying to get? Satin, polished, or?

Do you have polishing pads for your RO150, along with polish?

Have you tried turning down your vacuum? The vac will pull the sandpaper hard onto the surface. It needs to float over it.

Have a look at he DuPont website for Dorian finishing recommendations. They recommend only sanding up to 320 with brilliant 2, then switching to platin 509 and 1000, then to polishing. This is the method I have used on white Dorian and it achieves an incredible gloss finish

See attachment hope this helps

Thanks guys.  After the 1000 grit granat, we switch to 1k,2k,3k Abralon Pads.  Works great.  But for some reason the 1k grit granat dusts up too quick, IMO.  ill have to screw with the vacuum.  What polish are you boys using with the 1k grit?  the festool mpa?

I've found every Granat grit above 500 to be utterly worthless for any application, especially polyurethane topcoats. I either switch to Abranet or Vlies at that point, then anything above 1500 gets the polishing pads.

Granat above 800 does work well for bare wood that you plan to finish off with wax.

I have not used them on Corian, and you probably want the vacuum on a higher flow.
They sell them in a 2-pac so it doesn't cost a lot to see if they work before getting a 20 pack for ~$60

Google "amazon Mirka 9A-241-APRP 6-Inch Abranet Assortment Pack"
