Why am I only getting a day of usage before it starts to come apart? I've had the sander for a week and have been through 3 pads. Seems like the stickfix is too strong for the foam, I'm using the RO 90 / midi vacuum using festool sandpaper. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Are you talking about the soft pad that comes with the RO 90 as standard or are you talking about the interface pads that you buy as a consumable?

If its the pad that comes as standard with the sander I guess it must have something to do with how you are using your sander. Have you tried using the hard pad (Blue) and if so are the results the same?
Do you have your extractor turned down low?
If its the interface pads, well it will depend on what you are doing with them, deep profiles, shallow curves, I think you need to give a bit more info for people to really help out.
by the way those interface pads are not really made to last, they take a lot of abuse for a thin piece of foam.

Can you shoot us a couple of pictures so we can get an idea of what's happening to the pads.

This pad was purchased today and has at the most 2hrs. of actual run time, taking on-off 10 times or so. My last one completely fell apart with no more than a few hours of running. Vacuum is set to a little less than half during operation with moderate 120grit sanding on epoxy done today. I will say its been a brutal summer (100+ heat index) and I do work outside if that might be the cause.

Yeah, you have to be really careful taking the paper off the pad, especially after running it on the lower grits.  I trashed my first pad pretty quickly, but after I understood how gently the paper had to be peeled off -- holding the pad in place with my finger as I'm detaching the velcro -- I've gotten much more life out of it.

Call Festool  [wink]

They may send you a complimentary replacement.. I called when I was learning my RAS sander and got a "do over".

Man, I need a couple more of those in my life.  [embarassed]
