It looks like we have our first Corian job in 2 weeks time so I'm going to bite the bullet and get RO150, my question which abrasive for finishing?

For solid surface at the mo we use My Makita 6" with the discs supplied by supplier of tops.

Brilliant 2 I was looking at, any advice and do I need to get a hard pad, and super soft for round over etc?

Thanks

The Fes site says Granat & Viles, CDUK  Brilliant 2  & Platin to finish maybe both do a good job?

For some reason it won't open

Steve Bace has taught me several things, for which, I'm quite grateful.

He and Lance are my go-to guys for solid surface questions. I consider both total experts... And not just in solid surface subjects.

Is his technique and grit sequence applicable to marble, with regard to degree of gloss or satin result?

In theory, yes.  The measure of surface hardness is the Mohs index.  On that scale of 1-10 where 1 is talc and 10 is diamond, Corian is between 2 and 3, marble is between 3 and 4 and aluminum oxide (Granat abrasive) is 9.

Polishing the marble walls of a vestibule is one of my upcoming projects, so I'll report back on whether or not the technique and grit sequence works in practice.

Printed this off going with the sander

I use 120 / 240 / 400 / grey scotch-brite for a satin finish - All on a hard backing with my Bosch AC150  [eek]

What colour corian are you fitting?
