Rotex vs. Belt Sander

They are sold by the box. My memory says that there are ten belts in a box. I'll check when I get in to work.

Have you seen these Mirka Abranet belts?

Thanks for the post...these are new to me. They also have 4" x 24" belts and recommend their use on steel. At $35 per box of 12 belts, that's pretty inexpensive.

I looked at my DW433 just now, the belt for the dust extraction is intact so that's not the problem. It was wishful
thinking anyway. Yesterday when I tried using it again I put a new belt on and it ate it up in less than 2 minutes.
Couldn't get the tracking to hold the belt center on the rollers, it keeps drifting to the inside and chaffs against the
housing, curls the inside edge of the belt up, and from there its all downhill FAST.

Time to toss this POC and find something better. A belt sander does come in handy at times for large areas
such as when working on my deck. I used to use the DeWalt belt sander for that but since its been misbehaving
I have rented a large 4 disc floor sander for a half day the last two times I re-stained the deck. Costs about $70
including consumables which every 3 years is not too bad.

FESTOOL HAS A GREAT BELTSANDER WITH A LEVEL SANDING FRAME THAT OUTPERFORMS THE ROTEX.
IT IS A EUROPEAN TOOL AT 240V AND WORKS WELL HERE.

IF THE DECK IS BIG RENT A FLOORSANDER FOR THE ROUGH SANDING IT IS FAST AND FLAT.
