Hi
I just want to share my solution for a router lift for my OF 1400 With my Incra Magnalock plate.
I bought all the spareparts for the CMS OF (only the lifting mechanism).
It is a bit difficult to reach the spindel lock. But I Think a router bit extension Will do the trick.
It works fine - now I only need to make a fence !

Kind regards
max

Great job!  How are you keeping the 1400 centered in there?  was it hard to adopt that?  One of my complaints with the CMS was the plastic inserts... i would love to have some aluminum ones with magnets like your setup.

cheers.  Bryan.

Welcome to the FOG -- great first post.  There's going to be quite a few people i bet interested that you've hacked the CMS and made the 1400 compatible with a non Festool router table.

Hi Bryan

I used the bottom plate of the router as a template for drilling two 6mm holes  - and I use the threaded M6 holes in the router structure to fix it to the plate.
On top of the Incra plate i countersunk the holes to fit two hex M6 bolts. (pencils)

I don't use the bottom plate (sole) of the router - it gives me 3 mm more lift !!! - I hope You understand :-)

To be honest - it was very easy !! - the router is dead center - give or take half a millimeter.
It is easy to remove - when I need to use the Router as handheld - just remove 2 screws !

:-)

Thanks Max, this is really exciting. I've been looking at swapping my CMS for an incra table with the fancy positioner fence. Do you think this will work? It would save a lot of money not having to buy an extra router and lift for one of their tables/fence combos.

Do you feel happy that the two screws holding the router are sufficient? Hopefully they are. Brilliant, thanks again for posting.

Hi Jonnio

I feel pretty sure that the 2 M6 bolts will hold the router in place.
I have not yet tried the installation - I'm building the fence.

Should the bolts fail - I'll have make additional fixing...
But at the time beeing - the router structure is right up to the Incra plate - and I can not move the router..
the router is at the same time - pressed up against the incra plate - due to the lifting mechanism...

I hope You copy my idea :-) It would be nice to have a second opinion :-)
Regards
Max

Have you thought about also using the post that mounts to the side of the router where the black standoff piece normally goes?  It would also help in making sure the router stays put. In fact that's the one part I believe that keeps the routers fixed in the CMS without being able to spin around. I do not have any issues with the plastic rings in the CMS, in fact I like them better than I liked the metal rings in my former incra plate. My one CMS gripe is the fence in comparison to the incra fence. I'm still mentally working on a mount for the LS positioner to the CMS. One day...

I am playing with the idea to build a larger table with an Incra fence and then attaching the CMS to the larger table. What way it would be possible to use the great Incra features, as well as the sliding table for the CMS. It would also keep the CMS mobile if needed. What do you think?

Hi great idea ... a couple of questions ... does the height adjuster require an additional hole in the INCRA plate ... also how is the dust collection hooked up ... I can see the hose at the bottom of the pic ...

I clamp the CMS and MFT together with a couple of custom bolt assemblies. The Incra fence is fitted via dogs on the MFT and reaches over the CMS. That way I have the best of both worlds and the Incra lifts off as required.
