Hello,

On my OF 1010 EBQ, there is a little green button next to the trigger, as on all of them.

But on mine, this button is like a security : it needs to be pressed in order to allow the main trigger to be pushed.
I had noticed that on the 1010 of a friend of mine, this little side button had a different function, it was used to lock the trigger in the ON position, and to release the trigger it just had to be pushed again.

It didn't bother me until today, because I just received the router table CMS-OF, and because of the way my trigger is designed, I can't use my 1010 in the CMS, unless I build a little device to mechanically hold the trigger on the ON position. Which is what I will do.

So my question is : is my router the only one with this bizarre design ? And is there a quick way to reverse it to the normal design ?

And does anyone else have the same funny situation ?

Mine behaves as described in the manual; essentially the same as the router of your friend.

I guess there *could* be regional differences in the EU, but I really do doubt it.

Is your OF 1010 less than three years old? If it is, I'd suggest a call to Festool Service in France. It's certainly certified for use in the CMS so you shouldn't have to make something for it to work effectively.

The button (labeled 1.1 in the previous post) should operate as a trigger lock.

Hello,
Thank you for the answers.
The router is more than 3 years old.

I have just called festool in France and was told that there were 2 models, behaving differently, and if I want to have the button acting as trigger lock I should order the part 490136.
I find this answer very strange, since I have never seen that there was a choice to be made when I bought my router.

Personally, I will use a rubber band to keep the trigger on.

One more question : on my router, if it runs and I stop it by releasing the trigger, the engine stops quite fast, there is a break, probably electro-magnetic .
But if I turn if off by disconnecting the power (as it happens when mounted in a CMS), the time for the engine to stop is much much longer, because I guess the electro-break is not working because not powered.
I just would like confirmation that it is "normal", which means that the stopping time is much longer in the Router table mode.

***  For those who "skim" read posts please note that the OP is going to be using this in his new CMS and needs to lock the trigger in some way.  He is NOT advocating locking his trigger with a mechanical device when operating handheld.***

Thank you Peter for saying this.

I have just called Festool again and talked to someone else.

My router is quite old, it was made in 2000. And back then, the green button was meant to be a security for not pushing the main trigger by accident.
Then, afterwards, on the more recent models, the green button is designed to lock the trigger.

And as I said, one can buy the part 490136 to modify the action of the green button.

As expected, for the fact that the engine stops faster when handheld than when in router table mode, it is normal. When in the CMS-OF, we loose the security feature of the magnetic break.

End of this story.
