Router sled via low cost linear motion

I like my spinning death machines with 2"+ cutters held down.  Call me crazy.

+1 for this!

I see all the rigs with standard bearings riding just on the top of the vee channel and think that'll be fun when it hits a knot or anything that makes it jump off the track!

And received something unusable out of the box.

That's so bad its almost funny.
But reality is that the guides are only going to be as straight and flat as what you have the screwed down to.

@ Steve1 the assembled rod feels pretty stiff. I’m planning to support it at the ends and middle leaving a 1.1 meter span but I’l test the deflection and reconsider.

Don’t know how the mount extrusion was attached to the rod before I received it but it looks like the bearing blocks were installed on the ends of the rod (causing it to sag) and then the extrusion was screwed on locking in a 4.5mm bend over the 2200mm length. A bit more than the 80 angstrom per meter spec.  [tongue]
