Router table hooked up to Festool dust collectors

I'm about to build a router table and cabinet  I plan on using the Incra top and the Incra Wonderfence super duper pack thing they sell.

I'm looking at some of the dust collection schemes, and most I find are using the 4" massive dust collectors.  All I have are the Festool ones with either the 27mm or 36mm hose.  (I could use a 50mm if necessary).

Has anyone had good luck with dust collection from a home built router cabinet using a Festool dust collector?  Any tips or tricks?

I have the Incra router table.  But I don't use any of my Festool Ct vacs.

I use my Ridgid shop vac....only in hopes that it would burn up so it give me a reason to buy another Ct vac.

But with the way the hose hooks to the wonder fence you should have no problem using a Ct vac. But use a 50mm hose.  Also think about hooking a

hose up to the bottom for better dust collection, think along the lines of the CMS unit.  Because for me, that's where I'm lacking in dust collection.  Which is

another reason I'm thinking about selling my Incra table and buying the CMS unit.  But the fine adjustment on the Incra is hard to give up.

So a Ct vac with a "Y" adapter and a hose going to the Incra wonder fence and a box with the router inclosed (but with ventilation) would be a sweet

set up.  I also have my ridgid shop vac hooked up to the rockler vortex dust collector.  Because you can produce a lot and big shavings with bigger bits.

Ideally you will have dust collection from the fence around the bit as well as from an enclosure around the router motor to catch stuff falling down to keep it out of the router motor vents. I use a large cyclone for the router box and my Festool CT vac on the fence. If using just the CT I would use a 50mm hose with a wye adapter to capture the router box at the same time. It should work quite well. The router box does need vents in it to allow airflow coming in to allow the suction to work properly. This keeps your work area nice and clean. My router box is the Woodpecker box but a home made box would work well, it just needs a door to access the router.

Well Eric posted the same thing!!

Thanks.  I was thinking of one of the router boxes, and then getting the hose set from the CMS to hook them together.  I'll probably get a Dust Deputy for use on this and my planer.

I had considered the CMS, but after the cost, with no router motor, I could build the nice Incra table with the Incra lift and PC motor for the same or less.  I don't see the value, other than being able to pack the thing up and store it somewhere.

Maybe I'll buy one in the future, if they release some of the other CMS accessories that make it attractive and more of a value.

The Incra clean sweep looks like a good option, wondering if anyone using this has an issue with dust being sucked towards the motor

amazing. just read their email. then first post here it is.

im not sure  about it. i think it will hinder the moters ability to pull air in and cool it down. the motor will be pulling air against the dc port pulling the  other way
i was thinking of putting some 4" flex hose around the router and out through the wall of the router table so that the motor can breath naturally

Yea I got the email this AM.  Not sure how I feel about a box enclosing my router so tightly...

I just built a box on the back side of my router fence to surround the bit.  I drilled a hole in the top that is the same size as the 27mm hose connector OD.  Even if I am not actually using the fence it does a great job removing the chips just by moving the fence close to the bit.
